we are headed off on vacation and i will be bringing books!
i have learned from past trips that ebooks are the way to go, so i have filled my kindle and iPad up with more books than i could possibly read. and i’m throwing a few in the suitcase for good measure.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Little Princes by Conor Grennan
Everything Beautiful Began After by Simon van Booy

The Man in the Rockefeller Suit by Mark Seal
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
Paris Was Ours edited by Penelope Rowlands

what are your favorite travel-friendly books (listed here or not)? and of these, which ones must i absolutely read?
Oh my — that is quite a selection.
I loved Paris Was Ours and if you are heading to the city I think it will be that much more wonderful.
Have a wonderful and safe trip.
i picked up Paris Was Ours on your recommendation, and i’m looking forward to enjoying while sitting in Paris.
thanks, Suzanne!
wow, how long is your vacation?? My top 3 must-red is: Follett, Murakami, 2 favorite authors of mine, and Paris Was Ours in non-fiction. My husband has been reading and enjoying it.
Have fun!

we will be gone for 4 weeks, so i need lots of books! if i do manage to pick up the Follett, it alone will keep me occupied for a while.
i’m almost done with the Murakami, so it’ll probably be the first to get tackled on the airplane.
Wow! That is a huge stack! How long are you going to be on vacation? I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Mockinjay. I gave up after the first hundred pages. Have a safe trip!
that is 4+ weeks of wishful reading.
wow, you gave up? no good? my bf is reading it now and he sort of seemed to fizzle with it too, but he does that with everything. it’s one of the books i’d taken for an easier read… i’ll definitely let you know what i think.
thanks and see you on the other side!
I do not in any way consider this to be overkill. I like to pack an absurd number of books for any vacation, particularly a vacation in which I do not anticipate that I will be buying a whole bunch of books. (Why would I go on a vacation where I wouldn’t buy a whole bunch of books? That clause shouldn’t even be necessary.)
lol! i agree. let’s just pretend like you never said that part.
*whispers* Read Everything Beautiful Began After first.
I loved The Devil in the White City, especially since it gave me new things to look for in Chicago. There are so many new things I learned about the last decades of the 19th century in the US from this book. Hope you find it fun.
In Cold Blood is still on my list to read, especially since Truman Capote was such a good friend of Harper Lee.
What do you think of Kafka on the Shore so far? Hope you’re having fun on your vacation!
