Michael L. Printz

the Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature is given to a young adult work of fiction, nonfiction, poetry or an anthology published in the previous year.  it is chosen by a Committee of nine members, including a chair and the criteria for winning books is quality and literary excellence, with an emphasis on books “that readers will talk about”.

up to four honorary titles can be selected in any given year and often, the honorary titles are as interesting and worthwhile as the winning titles.

i have been working my way through this list and so far, all of them have been very good and lead me to believe that if you favor the YA genre, these winners and honorary titles are a great place to start for reading suggestions.
